By 2014, only 14% of Uganda’s population had access to electricity for lighting. 62% of our population who are mostly rural households, used kerosene lamps as well as candles and fuel wood for lighting.
In response to this challenge, in 2015, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Uganda commenced the implementation of the “Scaling-Up Rural Electrification using Innovative Solar Photo Voltaic Distribution Models project” with funding from the European Union (EU) and others.
Kalaz Media camped in the areas of Kasese, Rubirizi, Hoima, and Arua to capture stories of the beneficiaries of the solar project.
